Sugar
The price of raw sugar increased to its highest level since 1981, as supply concerns grow as at August 2009 at a staggering all new high. One main reason is the demand for Raw Sugar in Brazil to be used in the process of Ethanol production combined with a sharp drop in production in India of over 45% on 2008.
Sugar trading has been a volatile market with ever increasing costs and as a soft commodity it has also been traded for ethanol production making it a commodity for both an energy and food product.
Forecasts show that Sugar is on an ever increasing price hike and exponential growth in demand as production is not meeting supply.
